View from Frida Kahlo’s Bedroom, Coyoacán, 1941. Photographed by Emmy Lou Packard. Archival silver gelatine print, printed later.
Evocative black-and-white photograph taken by Emmy Lou Packard during her stay with Frida Kahlo in 1941. From Kahlo’s bedroom at La Casa Azul in Coyoacán, the image looks outward through open French doors onto the courtyard, where a birdcage hangs delicately in the light. Inside, a striking papier-mâché figure looms, casting shadows that echo the surreal, intimate world Frida created around her. A rare and quiet glimpse into the artist’s personal space, captured by a close friend and fellow artist.
