“The many textures of bark, from rough oaks and scored birch to peeling eucalyptus, inspire the fabrics I create and work with; rugged weaves such as burlap or raw silk and cotton ikat. Moroccan Beni Ourain rugs remind me of the diamond-patterned surface of an oak tree. Turkish tulu rugs, made from the long hair of Angora goats, call to mind the shaggy bark of redwood.”
