Rich, beautiful short-pile Caucasian rug with a deep red field and palette of reds and blues. Features all-over designs of the traditional Bird and Fertility motifs. Framed with a border of Blossoms and finished with a hand-knotted fringe.
Antique Caucasian rugs express the deep joy and ingenuity present in the tribespeoples weaving them. Working close to the earth with small, transportable looms, Caucasian tribespeople wove striking, entirely unique textiles in geometric, motif-splashed designs. Using almost exclusively natural dyes — due to the Caucasus physical remoteness and isolation — Caucasian rugs are instantly identifiable given the weavers' vibrant, daring uses of color.
